A shift knob should match your shifter before it matches your interior. Use this guide to compare thread size, shift pattern and clearance, then check the specifications on the individual product page.
Check your vehicle or shifter manufacturer's specifications. A size such as M10x1.5 describes a 10mm metric thread with a 1.5mm pitch. M10x1.25 has a different pitch and is not interchangeable with M10x1.5. A 3/8-16 thread uses an inch-based standard.
Do not choose a knob solely by vehicle brand, appearance or the number of gears. An aftermarket shifter can use different threads from the original equipment.
Compare the markings with your actual transmission layout. A 5-speed pattern, a 6-speed pattern and a transfer-case pattern serve different applications. Check whether reverse is in the upper-left or another position.
For example, our Japanese-marked 6-speed knob has upper-left reverse. Confirm that layout matches your vehicle before ordering.
Thread size alone does not establish full compatibility. Check reverse-lockout collars, boots, collars and nearby trim. Push-button automatic shifters require their own compatible mounting system; a screw-on manual knob is not a general replacement for them.
Some products include thread adapters. Use only an adapter supplied or specified for that product and verify the connection on both sides. Never force mismatched threads or install a loose knob. If you are unsure, consult a qualified installer.
